Swami Vivekananda was a Hindu monk and one of the most spiritual leaders of India. He was born in January12, 1863 in Calcutta. He was born Narendranath Dutta into a Bengali family in Calcutta. Narendranath was one of the eight children of Vishwanath Dutta and Bhuvaneshwari Devi. As a young boy, Vivekananda was a brilliant student in his school days and his mischievous nature believe his interest in music, art, literature.
In the 19th century, Swami Vivekananda was raising awareness regarding interfaith and Hinduism to the status of a major world region. Swami Vivekananda contributed at large to the concept of Vedanta philosophies and Yoga to the western world. Swami Vivekananda is well-known for his incredible speech which began with the golden words:-
“Sisters and Brothers of America…”
Swami Vivekananda established the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission in 1897. His birthday, January 12 is celebrated as the National Youth Day in India.
