Chitrakoot, Dec 16: In what can be described as a historic and bold statement RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday (Dec 15) appealed to those Hindus who were converted to other faiths in the past to come back and embrace their ancestral faith i.e. Hindu Dharma.
Dr. Bhagwat even administered an oath to the massive audience including the saints of various sects to work hard to ensure the honorable comeback of all members of the Hindu society who had been converted and absorb them in their midst.
The Sarsanghchalak was addressing the Hindu Eakata Mahakumbh held at Chitrakoot where Sri Rama had taken a vow to eliminate all the ‘Rakshasas” and make this land free of them so that the ‘good’ people can live in peace and tranquility.
Taking a cue from that event, Dr. Bhagwat recalled that Sri Rama did eliminate the Rakshasas not for his own self, but for the larger welfare of the society. Drawing inspiration from Sri Rama’s life and mission we should also devote time and energy for the welfare of our society, he said while administering an oath to the audience to work hard to ensure the comeback of all those converted brethren of the Hindu society.
"Take a pledge that I will persuade those who have converted, to embrace Hinduism and also make sure that the Hindus don't convert... I also take a pledge to protect the dignity of our Hindu sisters," Bhagwat said.
Appealing to the saints and seers who participated in the Hindu Ekata Mahakumbh the RSS Sarsanghchalak underlined the need for unity among the larger Hindu society and asked the Hindus to rise above caste-based discriminations, untouchability, and other such social evils.
The RSS chief appealed to the seers to work towards bringing Hindus together, shunning their differences.
The seers who also addressed the Mahakumbh expressed serious concern over issues like Love Jihad and attempts to cause demographic imbalance through the increasing population by certain elements. They demanded steps to protect the Hindu “Sanskriti” and “parampara”.
The other seers, who spoke at the meeting, said that there was an attempt to erase the Hindu culture and national identity through demographic changes and sought measures to protect it. "Only those who have two children should be given voting rights, a prominent seer demanded.
''Hindu girls are being lured in the name of Love Jihad... they are being exploited... it must stop,'', said another seer.
Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Maharaj expressed concern over deliberate and concerted attempts by certain forces to weaken the Hindu Dharma by encouraging conversion of Hindus and demanded “strong measures to stop conversion” besides underlining the need for a strong law to protect cows and cow-progeny.
Rambhadracharya also referred to the Shreekrishna Janmabhoomi at Mathura and said that it should be given back to the Hindus. "We already have A (Ayodhya) and K (Kashi)... now we want M (Mathura)," he remarked.
