Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh will hold a nationwide demonstration on October 28 against the government’s policies regaeding strategic disinvestment and asset monetisation plans for the public sector enterprises.
“As per the decision taken in the kendriya karya samiti of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) held at Ayodhya in August 2021, all the affiliated unions of BMS in central public sector undertakings, under the banner of public sector coordination committee, will hold a nationwide demonstration on October 28 in their respective industries or units against the policies of government to demanding ‘save public sectors, save Nation’, it said in a statement on Friday.
As per the statement, the key demands of BMS include immediate stoppage of disinvestment of BPCL, put a freeze on increasing foreign direct investment limits across sectors, stoppage of merger of banks, insurance and other public sector companies, ending commercialization of Coal sector and stopping any form of anti-worker changes in proposed Industrial Relations Code.
Also, BMS has demanded a revival package for BSNL & MTNL, implementation of recommendations of the 3rd pay revision committee (PRC) in remaining public sectors like BSNL and MTNL, revision of pension for retired employees and revival or diversification of sick PSUs.
The central trade union has further threatened that the government should take corrective measures in the next Union Budget in the absence of which BMS will decide on the future course of action.
“The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh will wait for the government action till the Budget session and in case the government continues with its policy and does not accept our demands then the BMS will decide the future course of action against the government,” it added.
